The Worm Monger is a blog and learning tool devoted to composting and reducing household organic waste, particularly in the urban environment. We endeavor to provide an informative (if not funny) resource for city composters and urban dwellers looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint and live more sustainably.
The Worm Monger is for the composting noob and the old hand alike: we can all learn more about waste reduction. We hope to provide a space where we can talk with and learn from one another in one big happy worm community.
At The Worm Monger we are passionate about our sh!t. Composting with worms not only reduces the amount of waste that goes into landfill, but the product the worms poo out when they digest our food scraps is black gold for our gardens and for the soul.
When we compost, we are turning our food waste into new soil, which we in turn use to grow our food again in a beautiful cycle of life and decay. The Worm Monger celebrates soil: making soil, improving soil, refusing to treat our soil like dirt. Soil is the true essence of life.
We are also big advocates of growing more food in our backyards and cities. Growing our own food gives us a better understanding of where our food comes from and means we take some personal measures to reduce our food miles.
The Worm Monger celebrates the beauty of compost in all its ugly glory, it celebrates people getting their hands dirty to make the world a greener, cleaner place and it celebrates the things we can grow, eat and cook when we commit to composting our sh!t rather than filling up our landfill.
We hope you find The Worm Monger an informative, fun, hip and beautiful place to get your green on. Enjoy!
